There’s a Constitutional Amendment 5 that was voter approved recently that changed the qualifications for the “Long-Term Resident Senior Exemption.”
The requirement now is that the property has to have a value of $250k or less only the first year in qualifying for the exemption.
So this message is mostly for those seniors who lost the Long-Term Resident Senior Exemption only because the property market value increased over $250k. Guess what? If this is you, you may now apply for a refund for the year or years you’ve lost the exemption.
This is great news for those who need it the most-seniors, and especially who are on a low fixed income.
