The Annual Camping Under the Stars event at City of Doral is ready for s’mores!

Doral, FL – Great weather, family fun and plenty of activities are part of the annual “Camping Under the Stars” event at J.C. Bermudez Park. This year’s camping will start January 27th with an on-site registration beginning at 3:00pm, and an overnight camping into Saturday, January 28th.

The event is open to the public and admission is FREE. Activities include Petting Zoo and Reptile Encounter, Facepainting, Coconut Tree Rock Climb and the Movie Yogi Bear (Rated PG). Food and beverage will be available for purchase, and breakfast tickets are $6.00. Thanks to South Florida Parenting, the Boy Scout Doral Troop 552 will conduct its annual s’mores plus the girl scout cookies fund-raising sale. All overnight camping groups must register and camps site are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is not required for patrons coming to enjoy the movie.

1. Location- Doral is a great golfing community 5min. away from Miami International Airport, 15min. to South Beach, 10 min. to Coral Gables, 10min. to 3 major malls in the area, and surrounded with restaurants, parks and clubs.
2. Appreciation- Buying a home now (at today’s current rates) can almost ensure your home’s future appreciation.  There are still a good amount of foreclosed homes in Doral that are available for a fraction of the original cost. Inventory is shrinking though, and prices are going up as we speak, more so with condo’s and townhomes; sale prices are up 3% in 2011 compared to 2010. The single family market is also improving.
3. Schools- This is a "biggy". All schools in Doral are "A" schools.

Standard of living & quality of life- Doral is a very dynamic, well run city, multi cultured, and very family oriented.  Named #2 of America’s Top 25 towns to live well for its cultural amenities, pro-business environments, and a highly educated workforce by Forbes magazine. The quality of life is as good or better than most high end communities in Miami.  
5. Pride- Pride of ownership means many different things to many people. Doral being a golfing community could mean for most, a sense of achievement, or the fact that you can play golf from your back yard. Doral also being a predominantly Hispanic community could also mean being close to it’s people or for the preservation and pride of its culture.

• Mortgage interest deduction-  100% you paid in 2011, is deductible on you 2011 taxes. This month you should be getting a form from your bank indicating the precise amount of interest you paid. Also, this information will probably be available to you on line.

You probably paid some advanced interest on your home loan at closing- This information will be included in your lenders statement, and you can also find it in you HUD-1 settlement statement you received at closing.

• Property Tax Deductions- If you lived in your home most of the time, again, 100% of the property taxes should be deductible.
• Closing Cost Deductions-  State and local transfer or stamp taxes paid at closing (See HUD-1) are generally deductible.

There are a number of possible deductions , and other tax advantages that might apply to you.

Best advice I can give you is consult with a tax professional, or at the very least, get a reputable tax software, usually less than $50. If this is your fist time, it might be a good idea to do both to help get a good understanding of the options available to you.

Doral, FL – 2012 promises to be an exciting year for Doral! Besides the new City Hall/Government Center, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the new "Downtown Doral Park". Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez, Doral Councilmembers along with Codina Partners will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at 9:30 am.

The three-acre "Downtown Doral Park" will include an open air pavilion with benches and picnic tables plus two play structures geared towards children ages 5 and under, and 5 to 12 years old. "Downtown Doral Park" is part of the Downtown Doral 120-acre master-planned community. The Park was designed by Sixto Architect, Inc. and developed by Codina Partners.
